Hardwired vs. Plug-In
Differences Between Hardwired and Plug-in Lights
Wall Lights:
- Hardwired Wall Light – Directly connected to your home's electrical system. Requires professional installation and a wall switch for control. Provides a clean look without visible cords.
- Plug-in Wall Light – Comes with a cord and plug, allowing it to be plugged into a standard outlet. Easier to install and relocate, but the cord remains visible.
Pendant Lights:
- Hardwired Pendant Light – Installed into the ceiling’s electrical wiring, typically controlled by a wall switch. Offers a seamless, built-in look.
- Plug-in Pendant Light (Swag Light) – Features a long cord with a plug, making it easy to hang from a ceiling hook and connect to an outlet. Ideal for renters or spaces without pre-existing wiring.
